Best Blue Cheese and Best English Cheese at the 2006 British Cheese Awards. You can't buy better!

This delightful blue veined cheese is hand produced by Phillip and Carol Stansfield at Liskeard in Cornwall. It is matured for twelve weeks to develop a full flavour. The rich and creamy texture and mild flavour reflects the high quality of the milk. As the cheese continues to mature the taste and texture develop to give a tangy finish.

Winner of the coveted 2006 Taste of the West Champion Product Award. A young, blue cheese with a unique taste and character made by hand by Cornish Cheese Company’s skilled cheesemakers.

Lesley Waters, who selected the 2006 Taste of the West Champion Product from the eleven Best of Category winning food and drink products, said, “All of the products are excellent and each deserve to win Champion Product. However, the Cornish Blue stood out from the rest and I enjoyed it so much I found that I kept returning to it. It is creamy, with a beautiful flavour but isn't too strong. The Cornish Blue is a shining example of the very best produce from the South West.”

This cheese is handmade - sometimes it will be a tiny bit more and sometimes a tiny bit less.

Looking for a way to diversify their farm business and add value to their own milk, Philip and Carol Stansfield spotted the gap in the market for a young, blue cheese that could compete with imported blue cheeses. Recognising that the climate and location of their farm were ideal for artisan cheesemaking and would give Cornish Blue its unique taste and character, the Stansfields started production on a small scale in 2001, and since then have gone from strength to strength.
